The Times (London)
points out that Bin Laden has gained far more from a couple of attacks and a few thousand lives lost than
he could ever have hoped. Bush and Blair have made him into a major world power by their over the top
response to what could have been just a police and intelligence matter.
But this rather misses the point of what the neo-cons and their corporate sponsors wanted. I believe
Al Quaeda have been used as a trigger for what amounts to a violent overthrow of civil liberties and justice
world wide – an opportunity to make overt what was being established covertly in the latter half of the
last century, corporate dominance of the lives of the population of the west with the help of their own
governments, police, and military [ the first half of the twentieth century saw this happen to the
undeveloped world with the help of the World Bank, US military, and the CIA. ]
The Times article imagines Bin Laden laughing away in his cave. I think Bush’s masters are pretty
happy too.
The joke’s on us.
